M. Elizabeth Hughes is a freelance film producer who grew up in south Georgia.

After graduating magna cum laude from Wesleyan College, she earned her M.F.A. in Film and Television Producing from Chapman University.

Since then, she has made her career producing a wide variety of films and series with various filmmakers and financiers. She co-produced one of my favorite all time movies, SHORT TERM 12. She’s produced many studio features such as GIRLFRIEND’S DAY written by and starring Bob Odenkirk and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY starring Ben Schwartz and Noël Wells.

Most recently, she produced the Amazon docuseries, LORENA, which reframes the infamous story surrounding Lorena Bobbitt.

During our chat, we take an unfiltered look into the challenges of working in physical production, the magic of making SHORT TERM 12, and reflect on the choices that got her to where she is today.

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this week’s episode!
